Unfolding the Story of Kratom: Is it Safe? What do different Parties say?

Kratom has become quite a famous herbal product nowadays. There are claims from the FDA that the use of this substance can result in serious results. To back their claims, they provide information that denotes the idea of kratom adulteration being dangerous. On the other hand, the American Kratom Association and kratom strains enthusiasts have a different stance about this substance in the US. But what do these parties say? Moreover, what are the reasons behind keeping it a scheduled substance?

1: The FDA’s Rivalry Against Mitragyna

Kratom has a dispute between different parties in the country. At the same time, different states have banned this herbal product, like states like Arkansas, Alabama, and Indiana.

The Food and Drug Regulatory administration is a department of the government that has a lot of influence on the legislation of different US states. So what this means is that the negative influence of the FDA on these states became the reason behind these extreme restrictions.

To be precise, the FDA says that Kratom caused these deaths, but there is a need to evaluate this. They believe this herbal plant can cause deaths, although they know that the reasons for these deaths were different.

The proof they provide is not solid enough. This stands as the cause of mitragyna lovers who are of the view that there is a need for deep research before any verdict against the substance.

A big clue about FDA being biased against Kratom is that the HHS or health and human services sent a letter to the food and drug regulatory administration to withdraw this herbal product from the scheduled substance list. But, there was not a single public notification from the FDA for this purpose for 2 and a half years.

In the opinion of users and AKA, this is nothing less than partiality at the end of this department. In this situation, where there is no solid proof against mitragyna speciosa, this department is looking to ban it through the UN, which can be a big negative step against this substance.

2: Hypocrisy of FDA in AKA’s Opinion

It appears that the FDA has something against this product. If you take one example of this, it is clear to see. Let us analyze deaths in Colorado that were attributed to Mitragyna. The NCBI website has data on the claim of deaths due to this issue. There is data like:

  • For a death, during the year 2013, there was not enough residual that could allow toxicology screening. Furthermore, there is no proof against Kratom, and the apparent respiratory arrest was not verified in the comments of the postmortem officials.
  • In the second case attributed to this herbal product, there was no proof of Mitragyna in the victim’s blood. Some other substances lead to effects on the nervous system. This nervous system problem caused this death. The FDA’s claimed culprit was Mitragyna that was never proven.
  • The next case was in 2017 that had no proof of this substance in the blood. Here the cause of this mishap was antidepressants.
  • Their website’s last case has shown that one, too, has nothing to do with this substance. The eye-opener here is the presence of another alkaloid substance.

In this situation, when they have no proven facts, the AKA is of the opinion that before any verdict, there should have been thorough research on this substance. The request is that if mitragyna speciosa is not safe, there might be a verdict against it. But, before there is any kind of proof about it, it should not be at least a scheduled substance.

AKA or the American Kratom Association is also an advocate of it not being sold with adulteration. The big point they raise is that Kratom may cause serious upshots if mixed with substances like phenylethylamine or PEA. The NCBI website speaks about this.

3: What do Kratom Lovers say?

Like the American Kratom Association, millions of advocates of mitragyna speciosa have a great love for this herbal product.

They anticipate that surveys tell the people who use it do not feel any dangers associated with mitragyna speciosa. Their stance is that there was no substantial proof behind early bans and legislations in different American states.

Conclusion

When we evaluate FDA’s stance against Kratom, there appears to be something fishy. First, it appears that no proof could allow anyone to schedule this substance. Above that, AKA’s valid points here that there should be research on it and that there have been no proven deaths to the use of Kratom in more than 95 percent of the cases attributed to its use. Similarly, the remaining were caused by adulteration with this substance. The lovers of this product are also of the view that there is not enough proof that could allow any verdict against it. There should be more proper research on it.
